BLADENBORO – Unique Kelly and Ethan Brown sparked a 2nd half West Columbus rally that carried the Vikings to a 71-63 boys basketball victory over West Bladen Tuesday.

 

It was the first game for the Knights since January 8th when they were quarantined because their opponent that night, East Columbus, had a positive test.

 

West Bladen led 35-32 at the half, but Unique Kelly threw in 4 baskets to lead a 20-12 Viking surge that produced a 52-47 lead. Brown dropped in 4 2nd half baskets and 4 free throws to finish with 14 points. Unique Kelly totaled 17 points.

 

The Vikings Brandis Kelly, a UNC-Pembroke commit, muscled inside for 14 of his team-high 20 points in the 1st half. Keywone Sumpter added 12 points for WC.

 

West Bladen senior ShyRon Adams who poured in 29 points to lead all scorers drained a 3-point shot and 2 free throws in the opening period. Javonta Matthews and Josiah Brown threw in baskets, and freshman Landon Stanley nailed a 3-point shot for the Knights. Sophomore Gary Parker sank 2 free throws to keep the score tied 14-14 at the quarter break.

 

Adams lit up the scoreboard with a pair of 3-point bombs and 3 other baskets in the 2nd quarter. Anthony Mitchell and Donovan Stone fired in 3–point shots, Stone cashed in 2 foul shots, and Josh Lewis hit one to give the Knights their 35-32 halftime lead.

 

Stone and Keshaun Ballard drilled in 3-point shots in the 3rd quarter, and Stanley and Adams popped in a basket and a free throw each to keep the Knights within 52-47 at the quarter break.

 

Adams rallied the Knights in the final period with a 3-point bomb, 2 other baskets and 2 free throws. Stanley pumped in a basket and 3 free throws, and Matthews popped in a basket.

 

Stanley followed Adams on the Knight scoring list with 11 points. Stone totaled 8 points.

 

The Knights will host Red Springs Thursday night at 6:00.
