Five East Bladen Eagles – Tevin McLean, Lee Barnes, Fernando Rebollar, Zac Metz and Chace Butler – joined Waccamaw Conference Co-Player of the Year Jamie Delgado on the league’s All-Conference boys’ soccer squad.

McLean, a sophomore forward, led the Eagle scoring with 21 goals and posted 3 ‘Hat Tricks’ of 3 goals or more during the season. “Tevin has a knack for scoring and puts himself in situations where he can score,” said East Coach Jay Raynor. “He also developed a great chemistry with Chace (Butler) and the midfielders that led to some great runs and combinations for them.”

Barnes, a senior goalkeeper, shared duty in goal with Rebollar a junior. The pair teamed up to post a 14-7 record and combined for 8 shutouts in goal. “Those two guys are two of the best in the state,” stated Raynor. “Lee has great shot stopping ability and Fernando can make saves as well as stretch the field with his distribution.”

Barnes recorded 79 saves and allowed only 10 goals against 107 shots on goal. Rebollar came up with 65 saves and allowed only 12 goals against 90 shots on goal. Rebollar also scored a goal on a free kick from midfield. “He is a weapon for us,” noted Raynor. “Anytime we have kicks from 60-70 yards out we know he can put it on frame.”

Metz, a senior centerback, was credited with 425 steals (22.4 steals per game). He also dished out 5 assists. “Zac is involved in all aspects of the game,” said Raynor. “He had numerous blocks and tackles in our 1-0 win over West Bladen and made great decisions on shielding balls in the back and earning goal kicks. Zac can play just about anywhere in the field and that gives us different looks for our attack.”

Butler, a junior forward, racked up 8 goals, 7 assists and 260 steals (13.7 steals per game). He also recorded a ‘Hat Trick’. “Chace has improved his footwork and learned how to use a change of speed to cause defenders issues,” noted Raynor. “He also earned 7 penalty kicks for us.”
