BLADENBORO – Union grabbed a 2-1 halftime lead and outlasted West Bladen 3-2 Tuesday in non-conference boys’ soccer action.
Freshman Alejandro Lopez Sandoval blasted in a penalty kick for a Knight goal. Sophomore Jonathan Ortiz-Hernandez fired in the other West goal off an assist from junior Christopher Ramirez Labra.
Lopez Sandoval and junior Kevyn De La Cruz Labra sparked the Knight attack bombarding the Union keeper with 3 shots on goal each. Senior Darwin Garcia took 2 shots on goal, and senior Eddie Labra, sophomore Jonah Bryan and junior Aiden Russ had 1 shot on goal each.
Junior Cade Allen was credited with 5 saves in goal for the Knights, and senior teammate Oswaldo Gonzalez-Lopez had 4 saves in goal. Junior Brady Durden had 2 steals.
West Bladen, now 1-5, will travel to East Columbus Thursday for a 5 p.m. match.
