CERRO GORDO – Freshman Marlee Potter poured in 22 service points Tuesday to lead East Bladen’s jayvees to a 2-0 victory over West Columbus in their Waccamaw Conference volleyball opener by set scores for 25-17 and 25-3.

With the Lady Eagles clinging to a 13-11 lead in the opening set, Potter captured 4 straight service points as East padded their lead to 18-12. Freshman Tatum Allen and sophomore Mileigh Martin added service points as the visitors won the set.

Freshman Kaylie Atkins opened the 2nd set with a 4-point service run. After West trimmed the margin to 4-2, Potter blistered the court with 17 consecutive service points that extended the lead to 21-2. Martin served out the set winning 2 more service points.

Atkins finished with 6 service points for the winners, and Martin totaled 5 service points. Allen claimed 2 service points.

Coach Jessica Eason’s Lady Eagles improved to 3-4 with the victory and will travel to Pender Thursday for a 4:30 match.
