The Union Spartans scored four goals in the second half to defeat the West Bladen Knights 4-1 on Wednesday in a Four County 1A/2A Conference boys’ soccer game.

Union improved to 6-1 in the conference and 12-1 overall. West Bladen is 1-6 in the conference and 4-9-2 overall. The Knights are scheduled to play at rival East Bladen on Thursday at 6 p.m.

In Wednesday’s game, after a scoreless first half, Union’s Jose Gonzalez scored the first goal seven minutes into the second half off an assist from Irvin Ocampo. The Spartans made it 2-0 three minutes later when Xavy Lazo scored off Gonzalez’s assist.

West Bladen pulled within a goal with 25 minutes remaining when Seth Britt scored off an assist from Jorcahel Monroy.

However, Union scored about a minute later, getting a goal from Ocampo, then iced the game 10 minutes later when Arcenio Najera scored off a pass from Tobias Rodriguez.
