LAKE WACCAMAW – Sophomore Jonah Bryan and freshman Alejandro Lopez Sandoval fired in 2 goals each to lead West Bladen to a 6-0 non-conference boys’ soccer victory over East Columbus Thursday night.
Junior Cade Allen and sophomore Jonathan Ortiz-Hernandez drilled in the other Knight goals. Lopez Sandoval dished out 2 assists to go with his 2 goals, and Ortiz-Hernandez, Allen and junior Aiden Russ were credited with 1 goal each for the winners.
Ortiz-Hernandez and Lopez Sandoval led the West Bladen attack with 4 shots on goal each. Junior Christopher Ramirez Labra had 3 shots on goal, and Russ, Bryan, junior Kevyn De La Cruz Labra and senior Darwin Garcia had 2 shots on goal each.
Senior Oswaldo Gonzalez-Lopez posted the shutout in goal for West and was credited with 5 saves. Senior Daniel Gustafson led the Knight defense with 4 steals, and Ortiz-Hernandez, De La Cruz Labra, Ramirez Labra and sophomore Jason Martinez-Sanchez had 2 steals each.
West Bladen led 2-0 at the half and pulled away with 4 goals in the 2nd half.
Coach Kristen Parker’s Knights improved to 2-5 and will travel to Union Monday night.
