CLARKTON – The Bladen County Supplemental team outscored Columbus County Supplemental 14-10 Sunday in the Buddy Burney AA (Coach Pitch) All-Star Scholarship Games.

The Bladen team grabbed the early lead with a 4-run 1st inning. B. B. Christian, Jackson Davis and Reid Butler started the game with consecutive singles. Colton Thompson reached on a fielder’s choice, and Jensen Burney also reached base. Christian, Butler, Thompson and Burney all scored runs.

Columbus County sent 10 batters to the plate in the bottom of the 1st and scored 5 runs to take a 5-4 lead.

Julian Bryant, Gus Bordeaux and Christian belted singles in the top of the 2nd inning for Bladen, and Bryant and Bordeaux scored runs to edge Bladen ahead 6-5. Columbus tied the game with a run in the bottom of the inning.

Bladen exploded for 5 runs in the top of the 3rd inning. Butler slammed a double, and Thompson blasted a triple. Burney, Bostic, Bryant, Grayson Babson and Bordeaux connected for 5 consecutive singles. Butler, Thompson, Burney, Bostic and Bryant all scored to open up an 11-6 Bladen lead.

Columbus whittled the margin to 11-8 in the bottom of the 3rd, but Bladen tacked on 3 more runs in the 4th. Davis, Butler, Thompson, Carter Valenta and Burney delivered consecutive singles, and Davis, Butler and Thompson all scored to push the lead to 14-8.

Butler batted 3-for-3 with a double and 3 runs scored to lead the Bladen hitters. Bordeaux finished 2-for-2 at the plate with a run scored. Thompson slugged a triple and was 2-for-3 with 3 runs scored. Burney, Christian, Davis and Bryant all batted 2-for-3.

Valenta, Bostic and Babson smacked 1 hit each. Bryant and Burney scored 2 runs each, and Christian, Davis and Bostic scored 1 run each.

Bladen County will open play in the District 2 AA Supplemental Tournament at Riegelwood Friday night against Elizabethtown.
