Spread the love

A staff report

Elizabethtown, NC– Last night marked a transformative event as the Cape Fear Farmers Market blossomed into a sea of pink for the “Paint the Town Pink Event,” a lively occasion that both raised awareness for breast cancer and provided crucial support for uninsured individuals to receive free mammograms.

Sponsored by Barefoot Sandwich Shoppe, Tatum Realty, and others, the event radiated community spirit and compassion. Attendees were treated to the infectious beats of local beach music band, The Pink Slips, creating a joyful atmosphere and encouraging active participation in the festivities.

A highlight of the evening was the award for the most “Pinked Out” individual, where creativity ran wild, and attendees donned the pinkest attire imaginable. The East Bladen History Club seized the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by accepting donations to support women undergoing chemotherapy. Mrs. Sunday Allen, the driving force behind the History Club at East Bladen, emphasized the importance of their “Gifts of Love” initiative to assist those affected by the drying effects of chemo and radiation.

Tatum Realty expressed gratitude, saying, “We are so thankful for all the sponsors and hard work put into tonight. To stand back and see the community come together to Paint The Town Pink and enjoy each other, it was such a pleasure to see.”

The event garnered support from a multitude of sponsors, including Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation of Bladen County, Paul Norris of Farm Bureau Ins., Burney’s Sweets & More of Elizabethtown, Southern Trust Mortgage-Fayetteville, Bladen Online, Sassy Chick Boutique, Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, Linda Jones with the Debbie Evans Prayer Shawl Ministry of Trinity Methodist Church Elizabethtown NC, LuMil Vineyards, D’Vine Foods, and the Barefoot businesses in town.

Bo and Kelly Barefoot were particularly recognized, with a nod to their unforgettable shoes. The organizers expressed their appreciation for everyone who contributed, making the event a resounding success and a testament to the compassion and unity within the Cape Fear community. Thank you to the sponsors, The Pink Slips, EBHS History Club, and all attendees for their collective effort in this inspiring showcase of community support.

Update: Kristen M. Carpenter, Development Officer at the Bladen County Hospital Foundation, shared some fantastic news regarding the recent fundraising event. Together, we’ve achieved something truly remarkable – raising over $5,000 to support a notable cause, and the generosity keeps pouring in.
