This event has been canceled according to Earnestine Keaton. We did reach out for the reason behind the cancelation, but answer returned.

The Cape Fear River Shad Festival will be celebrated again this year. The event is sponsored by the Lower Bladen Columbus Historical Society.

Earnestine Keaton, one of the event organizers announced the plans for the festival this week. There will be a heritage music, demonstrations, fried shad and roc-cookie brown, food, drinks and a presentation about the historical importance of public access to the Locks and the Cape Fear River.

The event will be held on May 4th, 2019 at Lock and Dam #1 in East Arcadia.
