December 11th, Coach’s Place, a local golf cart dealer, held an Open House to announce their expansion. K & P Sports Cards and Memorabilia is now housed at Coach’s Place for sports enthusiasts.
Two NFL Star Guests were present at the Open House. Former Pittsburgh Steelers Yancey Thigpin and Ernie Mills signed cards and posed for pictures with fans. Santa was also present for the event.
When asked why Coach’s wanted to expand, Kent Fisher, one of the owners, responded with, “I’ve always loved cards as a kid and did it online. There’s a lot of online sales going on, and I decided to use our location to actually sell some of our cards to make Bladen county seem a little cooler with another avenue to make money.”
Mr. Fisher was also asked if he would stay in the golf cart industry. He stated the following, “We’re gonna be full-force with selling golf carts, selling vehicles, and selling the cards.”
Former Steelers, Ernie Mills, was asked how he thinks the day would go. He answered with, “I’m expecting things to go really well. I got into the state yesterday, and I love the area. It’s a nice and peaceful reminder of being back home in Florida. And Christmas puts a smile on people’s faces. When I was growing up, we didn’t see many celebrities in my town, so I’m using the influence to help out.”
The two football stars not only help small businesses like Coach’s Place promote their shops, but they try to spread holiday cheer in other ways.
Former Steelers, Yancey Thigpin, explained how the duo likes to give back with a foundation during the holidays, saying, “The YT 82 Foundation, which was started to help out kids that need it. We’re always doing coat and school supplies drives. We also help out with the families in need by picking out a woman’s family that’s hit hard times in the shelter. We take two families Christmas shopping for the kids to help them.”
With sports stars like Thigpin and Mills, it is easy to see why many people want to collect cards and memorabilia of sports legends.
