The U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting thousands of people across the country to assist with the 2020 Census count. Greg Elkins with the Bladen County Cenus Committee announced there are temporary positions available in the area.
Only 53.9% of the recruiting goal for Bladen County has been achieved, according to the interactive map.
“We need your help in finding Census workers,” stated Jan Hester Maynor, Special Projects Planner with Lumber River Council of Governments.
Current Pay Rate for Enumerator is $14.50 per hour, according to reports. Jobs include census takers, recruiting assistants, office staff, and supervisory staff. To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years old, have a valid Social Security number, and be a U.S. citizen.
Bob Coats, Governor’s Census Liaison of the North Carolina State Data Center said in a recent release, “The 2020 Census will be here in just a few weeks, and Census jobs are still available. The US Census Bureau released an interactive map showing the recruitment status, and North Carolina is behind. Anyone who is interested in a temporary Census job with flexible hours and good pay can apply online at https://2020census.gov/en/jobs.html.”
Candidates must complete an online job application. The application includes assessment questions about your education, work, and other experience.
