ST PAULS – Clinton’s girls rode a strong showing in the distance races to a 111-87 victory over West Bladen Thursday in a Southeastern Athletic Conference track & field meet. The St. Pauls boys rode a 56-18 advantage in the sprints and distance races to a 119-82 win over Clinton. West Bladen’s boys finished 5th with 35 points.
West Bladen junior Demon’tre Love won the 1600 meter race and placed 2nd in the 800 meters. Knight senior Malijah McKoy finished 2nd in the 100 meter dash, and the 4×800 meter relay team also posted a 2nd place finish.
West Bladen senior Trinity VanEyken won both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles in the girls meet. Freshman Janiya McKeithan won the triple jump, and the 4×100 meter relay team also won.
Senior Kiera Lewis posted 2nd place finishes in the 100 meters, the 200 meters and the long jump. West sophomore Tah’lela Bethea recorded a 2nd place finish in the high jump, senior Harmony Jacobs took 2nd place in the shot put, and junior Alina Chavez finished 2nd in the discus. The West Bladen 4×400 meter relay team also finished 2nd in their event.
