Clint AllenWest Bladen grad Clint Allen cracked a fifth inning single and scored the tying run, but his Coker College Cobras eventually dropped the second game of a Saturday double-header to Tusculum, TN 3-2.
With Coker trailing 2-0 in the home half of the fifth, Ryan Wayne led off with a single then moved up on a fly ball. Allen slapped a single off the thirdbaseman’s glove, then stole second base. Al Strnad knocked in both runners with a single that tied the game.
Tusculum scored a run in the sixth to claim the victory and also won the first game 12-5.
Allen has played in 15 games for the Cobras and is batting .250 with a .375 on-base percentage and 10 hits. The Bladenboro native is second on the team in stolen bases with nine and has scored 11 runs.
The Cobras are 5-4 in South Atlantic Conference play and 18-11 overall. Coker will play at Claflin, SC Wednesday at 6 p.m.
