Congressman Robert Pittenger HeadshotWASHINGTON – In honor of National Police Week, Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) today recognized local police officers for the important, often sacrificial work they perform on a daily basis to keep our community safe.

“Mr. Speaker, I rise today in honor of the incredibly brave men and women in blue who serve and protect our communities.

“For example, Sgt. P.J. Wilson of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is a third shift supervisor. He and his team work the wee hours of the morning to make sure we can sleep in peace. Officer K.S. Kodad works every weekend and most holidays, because he knows that criminals don’t always work business hours. Officer Tim Purdy recently sat down in a school parking lot to calm and reassure a potentially-suicidal autistic student. Detective McKee recently helped solve a homicide from last summer, with all five suspects now in custody.

“Mr. Speaker, these are just four of the thousands of police officers who should be recognized for their important work. Today and every day, we should take time to say ‘thank you’ to the police officers we encounter in the community.” #
