DUNN- West Bladen junior Demon’tre Love has been named to the 2023 All-Southeastern Athletic Conference men’s cross country team. Love finished 2nd in all 6 Southeastern Athletic men’s cross country races this season.
Love placed 2nd behind SAC Men’s Player of the Year Cristian Ortiz of Clinton in all 6 of those races. Love qualified for the Class 2A MidEast Regional and finished 24th.
Fairmont won the SAC Men’s Conference Championship and their coach, Samuel Reynolds, was selected Men’s Coach of the Year for cross country. Other members of the All-SAC Men’s team are: Austin Locklear and Kyland Strickland (Fairmont); Jordan Cook (St Pauls); Zachary Baker (Red Springs); Samuel Weber (Midway).
Midway won the SAC Women’s Conference Championship and their coach, Jay Faircloth, was named Women’s Coach of the Year. Midway’s Hailey Happel was the SAC Women’s Player of the Year and her teammates – Judith Salgado, Rachel Eldridge and Addison Jackson – joined her on the All-SAC cross country team. Clinton’s Haley Matthis, Kate Hobston and Evan Gillespie were the other members of the All-SAC team.
