CLARKTON – Elizabethtown rode a 6-run fifth inning rally to a 13-9 victory over Whiteville Optimist Tuesday night in the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 AA (Coach-Pitch) Supplemental Tournament.

The victory sends Elizabethtown into Wednesday’s 7 p.m. Tournament Championship Game against undefeated West Robeson American.

Claxton Tatum led off the Elizabethtown first inning with a double and raced home when Brady Marlowe cracked a single. Braylon Cromartie slammed a double to drive in Marlowe, and Gavin Elks smacked a single that scored Cromartie.

Elizabethtown stretched their lead to 6-3 in the second inning. Collin Cole belted a one-out single, and Conner Hill hammered a triple that scored Cole. Tyler Eason smashed a double that plated Hill. Marlowe laced a 2-out single that drove in Eason.

Jackson Smith slugged a double to start the Elizabethtown third inning. Elks drove in Smith with a single that padded the lead to 7-3.

Tatum, Marlowe and Carson Inman clubbed back-to-back-to-back doubles that scored Tatum and Marlowe to begin the Elizabethtown fifth inning. Smith walloped a triple that scored Inman.

Cromartie slapped a single that plated Smith, and Elks followed with a single. One out later Wilson Clifton capped the rally with a single that scored Cromartie and Elks.

Smith batted a perfect 3-3 with 2 triples, 2 runs scored and a run batted in. Marlowe finished 3-3 with a double, 3 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. Elks was 3-3 with 2 rbi’s and a run scored.

Tatum batted 2-3 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Cromartie finished 2-3 at the plate with a double, 2 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. Hill was 2-3 with a triple, an rbi and a run scored. Cole batted 2-3 with a run scored, and Niyah Wooten also batted 2-3.

Clifton delivered a 2-run single. Eason doubled in a run and scored one. Carson doubled in a run and scored one, and Omar Powell added a single.
