DUBLIN – Trent West knocked in Weston Pidgeon with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday night to give West Bladen a 5-4 Dixie Pre-Majors Baseball victory over Whiteville.

Pidgeon drew a walk to start the seventh inning rally, and Logan West laid down what Coach Kim Cain called “a textbook sacrifice bunt” that moved Pidgeon to second base. Trent West then delivered the game-winning run with a single to center field.

The Knights scored 2 runs in the first as Logan West drew a one-out walk, and Scott Bowen belted a single. Trent West reached base on an error, before Jonathan Robinson smacked a single to left that drove in Logan West and Bowen.

After Whiteville tied the game 2-2, Ian Sykes was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in a run as the Knights took a 4-2 lead.

West Bladen took a 4-3 lead into the top of the seventh, but a 2-out Wolfpack single tied the game.

Trent West worked the first 6 innings on the hill for the Knights, striking out nine and gave up only 2 hits. Trey Storms pitched the seventh inning to pick up the win.

West Bladen, now 6-4-1, will host St. Pauls in a double-header Wednesday at 6 p.m.
