ELIZABETHTOWN – The Yard Goats rallied from a 4-0 deficit to defeat the Rays 7-5 Tuesday night in Dixie Boys Baseball action.

A 4-run 4th inning pushed the Yard Goats ahead 7-5. Maverick Merritt, Hunter Wood and Ritchie Gonzalez drew walks to begin the rally, and Omar Powell hammered a double to right-center field. Merritt, Wood, Gonzalez and Powell all scored.

The Rays jumped ahead with 2 runs in the 1st. Rex Register, Noah German and Joel Lewis all reached base on errors and Register and German scored.

Jace Butler walked, Register reached on an error, and German ripped a double to left that scored Butler and Register to pad the Rays lead to 4-0 in the 2nd inning. Jordan King walked and scored when German reached on an error to put the Rays up 5-3 in the 4th.

The Yard Goats trimmed the Rays lead to 4-3 in the 3rd inning. Powell and Ryker Strickland lined singles to left-center field, and JaDarius McArthur and Brady Marlowe drew walks. Powell, Strickland and McArthur all scored.

Powell batted 2-for-3 with a double and scored twice to lead the Yard Goat hitters. Strickland singled and scored a run. McArthur, Merritt, Wood and Gonzalez also scored runs.

German doubled and scored a run for the Rays. Butler singled and scored, and Cameron Thompson had the other hit for the Rays. Register scored twice, and King scored a run.

Strickland started and pitched 3.2 innings for the Yard Goats allowing 3 hits and striking out 4. Ryne Priest pitched a hitless 1.1 innings of relief and struck out 3.
