WILMINGTON – Maycee Kinlaw pitched a 6-hitter and struck out 10 batters, and Bladen County scored the go-ahead run in the 4th inning and posted a 5-4 victory over Cape Fear Saturday in the Dixie Softball Ponytails District 9 Tournament at Cape Fear Optimist Park.

Bladen County advanced to another winners bracket game against South Columbus that was rained out Saturday night and rescheduled Sunday at 1 p.m.

Bristol Allen ripped a double to center field in the Bladen 4th inning and raced home when Abby Dicicco laced a single to left to put Bladen ahead 5-4.

Bladen grabbed a 3-0 lead in the 2nd inning. Ryleigh Miller walked, and Kenley Smeigh walloped a double to center field. Adyson Carroll and Allen were both hit by pitches. Dicicco and Chloe Walters cracked singles. Miller, Smeigh and Carroll scored runs.

Cape Fear tied the score with 3 runs in the 3rd, but Bladen tacked on a run in the bottom of the inning to go up 4-3. Anna Claire Walters and Brissa Matheson belted singles, Miller walked and Smeigh clobbered a double. Matheson scored the go-ahead run.

Smeigh batted 2-for-2 with 2 doubles and a run scored. Dicicco finished 2-for-2 at the plate. Anna Clarie Walters batted 2-for-3, and Matheson also finished 2-for-3 with a run scored. Allen doubled and scored a run, and Chloe Walters contributed a single. Miller and Carroll also scored runs.
