Dixie Youth Baseball was founded in 1955 for mostly smaller communities in southeastern states. Bladen County has been part of the organization since at least the 1970s.

It was announced January 1 that Dixie Youth Baseball has been rebranded as Diamond Youth Baseball. DYB offers baseball teams for ages 7 through 12.

The organization also announced that it has launched Diamond Youth Softball for girls ages 6 through 18 for the 2024 season. The inaugural DYS World Series will be hosted by Fairview, Tennessee in mid-July.

Diamond Youth Baseball teams are in Bladenboro, Clarkton, Dublin, Elizabethtown and Tar Heel.

“Since our founding in 1955, the mission of DYB has been ‘to promote the development of strong character, a right attitude, a sense of responsibility and citizenship in youth using the games of baseball and softball as a vehicle,” Diamond Youth Baseball wrote in its January newsletter, “and the Diamond Youth Baseball brand will continue that mission into the future. The foundation of our program always has been, and will always be, rooted in Proverbs 22:6, ‘Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.’ The world has changed over the years, but we still feel that trying to raise our youngsters properly, teaching love of God and country, respect for authority and following rules is just as important today.

“The new branding of Diamond Youth Baseball and the creation of Diamond Youth Softball creates a new opportunity for the continued growth of DYB’s programs with the aim of offering the best youth baseball and softball programs in the USA.”
