ELIZABETHTOWN – Noah Ray pitched a 3-hitter and struck out 10 batters on the mound Saturday. At the plate he batted 3-for-3 and scored 3 runs to lead Elizabethtown to a 10-2 victory over Lumberton in the opening round of the Dixie Youth Baseball District 9 Majors Tournament.

Elizabethtown advances to play the Red Springs/Fairmont winner Sunday at 5 p.m.

After Lumberton scored a 1st inning run, Eli Woodell walked to begin the Elizabethtown 1st. Ray slammed a double, and Chandler Wall belted a 2-out single. Woodell and Ray scored to edge Elizabethtown in front 2-1.

Colt Lewis walked, and Owen Hall smacked a single in the Elizabethtown 2nd. Isaiah Lloyd’s drive to center field was misplayed and Colt Lewis and Hall both scored to boost the lead to 4-1.

Ray smacked a 1-out single in the 3rd inning, and Stryker Pait reached base on an error. Gunner Lewis walloped a double that scored Ray and padded the lead to 5-1.

Lumberton trimmed the margin to 5-2, before Elizabethtown scored again in their half of the 4th. Greylon Robinson and Lakota Schemale smashed singles, and Robinson scored to push the lead to 6-2.

Elizabethtown pulled away with a 4-run 5th inning. Woodell reached on an error and scored when Ray blasted a triple. Pait and Gunner Lewis ripped singles, and Trey Wilson pounded a double. Ray, Pait and Gunner Lewis all scored in the inning.

Ray finished with a double and a triple among his 3 hits. Gunner Lewis finished 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Wilson doubled, and Pait, Wall, Robinson, Hall and Schemale contributed singles. Woodell scored 2 runs, and Pait, Robinson, Colt Lewis and Hall scored runs.
