WILMINGTON – East Bladen’s varsity boys and girls teams will both participate in the inaugural Hoggard Holiday Basketball Classic on December 28-30th at Hoggard High School.
Twenty-five teams representing 13 different schools will participate in the 3-day event, including 10 varsity girls teams, 8 varsity boys teams, 4 jayvee boys teams and 3 jayvee girls teams.
Two gyms will be used to play 34 games. Schools participating in the Classic include East Bladen, Wilmington Ashley, Topsail, Wilmington Laney, Wilmington Hoggard, Cape Fear Academy, Whiteville, Northern Guilford, Cardinal Gibbons, West Carteret, Holly Springs, Rocky Point Trask and Panther Creek.
Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles will open play in the Classic on Tuesday, Dec. 28th at noon against Ashley in the Jim Hebbe gym. Coach Aking Elting’s Eagle boys will battle the Ashley boys at 1:30 on Tuesday in the Sheila Boles Gym.
On Wednesday, Dec. 29th, the Eagle boys will play Topsail in the Boles gym at noon followed by the girls game between the Lady Eagles and Topsail in the Boles gym at 1:30.
