ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen’s Garrett Melvin and Maya McDonald were both recognized for being named the Three Rivers Conference Players of the Year for boys and girls soccer respectively as the Eagles presented their soccer awards Thursday night.

In addition to being named the TRC Player of the Year, Melvin (pictured, above) was named the Most Valuable Player, Offensive Player of the Year and also recognized for winning a NCHSAA Performance of the Week Medal.

McDonald (pictured above) was named Co-Most Valuable Player for the TRC champion Lady Eagles along with Katie Evans. Along with her league Player of the Year award, McDonald was chosen the team’s Offensive Player of the Year and recognized for winning a NCHSAA Performance of the Week Medal.

Dr. Ray Cross was acknowledged for his commitment to the East Bladen soccer program. Dr. Cross has been part of the Eagle soccer program for 21 of the 23 years of the program’s existence. He has been on the sidelines in a coaching role for almost 700 games.

Joe Melvin was presented a plaque for his years of volunteer service with the soccer program as well as his volunteer work assisting with the East Bladen athletic program.

Iron Eagle Award – Drew Sholar

Girls’ Soccer
Defensive Player of the Year – Sara Gargala
Coaches Award – Lily Lin, Kenia Medina
Iron Eagle Award – Josephina Torres
