
The East Bladen and West Bladen baseball teams are scheduled to play Friday in the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 2-A playoffs.
No. 25 seed West Bladen will travel to Beaufort to play East Carteret at 6 p.m.
The Knights (14-8) knocked off No. 8 seed Heide Trask 9-5 on Tuesday. No. 9 East Carteret defeated No. 24 Edenton Holmes 4-2 on Wednesday as Alex Doans and Brody Nelson hit home runs. East Carteret is 16-8 and finished second in the Coastal Plains 1-A/2-A Conference. The Mariners are the lone 2-A team in the six-team conference.
East Bladen (12-10) will play at Southeastern Athletic Conference foe Midway (21-2) at 6:30 p.m.
The Raiders are the East’s top seed and defeated Bunn 6-1 on Tuesday. East Bladen rallied to beat East Duplin 6-5 on Tuesday. Midway defeated the Eagles twice during the regular season, winning 1-0 in eight innings at home and beating East Bladen 8-4 at Russell Priest Field.
The concession stand at Midway will sell pork chop sandwiches for $5, hot dogs for $2 as well as popcorn, candy, drinks, water, peanuts, and Gatorade.
Admission to the games is $7.
If East Bladen and West Bladen both win Friday, the teams would play a third-round game at East Bladen tentatively on May 16.
