FRANKLINTON – Eleven East Bladen track & field athletes plus 7 Eagle relay teams and 3 athletes from West Bladen have all qualified for Saturday’s Class 2A Mid East Track & Field Regionals at Franklinton High School.

Top qualifiers for the Eagles were Tyreon Graham who posted the 2nd best long jump among the regional qualifiers (21 feet, 2 inches). Sophomore teammate Malcolm Bolden qualified with the 3rd best jump in the region (21 ft). Bolden also qualified in the 100 meters.

East senior Devin Bowen posted the 4th best discus throw in the region (105 ft. 4 in.). Sophomore Zylique Lewis will be competing in both the discus and shot put in the regional. Senior A. J. Smith will run in both the 1600 meters and 3200 meters in the regionals.

Other regional qualifiers from the Eagle boys were: sophomore Jacob Nixon in the 1600 meters; freshman Yontee Dobson in the high jump: sophomore Blaine Pope in the 400 meters. The 4×100, 4×400, 4×800 and 4 x200 meter East Bladen boys relay teams will all compete. The 4×200 meter team’s time of 1:34 is 3rd best in the region.

Juniors Cate DeVane (1600 meters and 800 meters) and Maya McDonald (100 meters and 200 meters) will compete in 2 events each for the East girls team. Junior Tatianna McElveen will compete in the discus, and the 4×100, 4×400 and 4×200 meter Eagle girls relay teams will all compete. The 4×400 team’s time of 5:09 was 3rd best in the region.

West Bladen senior Tinyauh Rhoda will run in both the 100 meter and 200 meter sprints. Her time of 27:44 in the 200 was the 3rd best time in the region. Junior Jessalyn Vendrick qualified in the shot put with the 2nd best toss in the region (33 ft. 2 in.).

Knight senior ShyRon Adams posted the best leap in the region in the long jump (21 ft. 5 in.).
