GREENSBORO – East Bladen junior Heidi Rebollar has been named to the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association’s Class 2A All-State Team. The NCSCA All-State selections will be honored in a ceremony at 1 p.m. Sunday at in the Grimsley High School auditorium.

“Heidi is one of the best that I have coached as far as being able to contribute on both sides of the ball,” said Lady Eagle Coach Jay Raynor. “Heidi was a catalyst for our attack coming out of midfield and can hurt you with her ability on the ball while attacking. Heidi can also lock you down defensively. We found out early on that we were going to have to change our system and the way we played. We had to learn quickly how to knock the ball around and play the game while being on the ball.”

Raynor continued, “Previously we could knock and run but this year we didn’t have those personalities on the field to be successful with that system of play. Without Heidi in midfield, I’m not so sure we would’ve been able to change our system of play, be successful, and accomplish it all as quickly as the girls did.”

Rebollar (pictured above, center) finished the season strong with 10 goals and 7 assists over the final 16 East Bladen games as the Lady Eagles won 13 of their final 16 games – 2 of those losses were to Eastern Class 2A Regional Runner-up Clinton.

Rebollar teamed with her sister Gabby and senior Acee Campbell to control the midfield over that final stretch. Highlights included game-winning goal in 1-0 win at Midway, 2 goals vs. Heide Trask, goal and 3 assists in win at Whiteville, 2 goals and 2 assists in win over Red Springs and 2 goals and 2 assists in wins over St. Pauls.
