CHARLOTTE – East Bladen’s Jamie Delgado played on the East team that won the boys’ soccer gold medal this weekend at the BodyArmor State Games.

The East team posted a 2-0-1 record and didn’t give up a goal in their 3 games. Delgado, a rising senior at East Bladen, played significant minutes and was credited with 2 assists in the 3 games.

East Bladen’s Ronnie Covington and Lucas Johnson served as the soccer field marshals for the State Games. They were in charge of game day operations that included but were not limited to setting up the field, running the live stream, assisting teams/coaches with their needs, site cleanup, assisting referees with their needs, and many other tasks.

“Ronnie and Lucas were instrumental in the success of the games this past weekend,” said East Bladen Coach Jay Raynor. “All together both boys volunteered for close to 40 hours in two days. Without them and Nelson Sarmiento, my brother-in-law, the event would not have run as smooth as it did.”
