Bladen County golfer Kayla Thompson, playing in the Mackie Construction Pro Golf Classic in Abilene, Texas, missed the cut by one stroke in the Women’s All Pro Tour tournament. She finished 72-77=149.

The West Bladen High School graduate, Clarkton resident and former UNC Wilmington golfer opened with a solid even-par 72 Wednesday. The rounded included five birdies, but also included five bogeys. Thompson shot 36 on each nine.

In Thursday’s second round, Thompson had a double-bogey six on the second hole and was out in 3-over 39. She had only one par on the back nine to go along with three birdies and five bogeys.

Ou Olankitkunchai from Thailand held a three-stroke lead at 7-under 137 after two rounds. The final round is scheduled Friday.

Thompson has played in two previous WAPT tournaments this season. She is entered in the Oscar Williams Classic on June 27-30 at Hurricane Creek Country Club in Anna, Texas.
