At its October 12 regular monthly meeting, the Bladen County Board of Education approved Marcus Edge as the new assistant principal of Bladenboro Primary School. Mr. Edge is replacing Jason Folsom who in September was named the new principal of Bladen Lakes Primary School.

Edge has served as the visual arts teacher of Elizabethtown Middle School since Fall 2020. He completed his principal internship at Bladenboro Primary School in 2019. Prior to coming to Bladen County, he worked in Columbus County until 2020 as a visual arts teacher at Hallsboro Middle School, Acme Delco Middle School, and West Columbus High School. While in Columbus County in 2019, he completed a principal internship at Tabor City Middle School and Whiteville High School.

Edge graduated from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a master’s degree in visual arts education, and a master’s degree in school administration. He received a bachelor’s degree in communications and public relations from North Carolina State University.

“I am thankful for this opportunity to support the students and teachers of Bladen County in the capacity of Assistant Principal at Bladenboro Primary School. I look forward to the adventures ahead,” says Edge.

The November Board of Education meeting will be conducted virtually and will be held today, Monday, November 9 beginning at 6 PM. This is an official meeting and action items and personnel matters will be on the agenda, as per NCGS 143.318.11 (a) (1) and to consult with an attorney, if needed, as per the NCGS 143.318.11 (a) (3).

According to school officials, a hyperlink will be activated prior to the meeting to allow the public to listen to the meeting virtually. Any person wishing to share comments or concerns with the board during the citizen participation section of the agenda should have emailed their comment or concern to comments@bladen.k12.nc.us​ no later than 12 noon on Friday, November 6, 2020. During the citizen participation section of the agenda, the comments will be read aloud to the board.
