The N.C. Department of transportation announced Tuesday morning that Elwell Ferry had reopened
The cable-operated ferry that crosses the Cape Fear River and connects N.C. 87 and N.C. 53 connecting Carvers Creek and Kelly had been closed since Dec. 19. The ferry is located at 2700 Elwell Ferry Road.
Other road related announcements include:
• US 701 North: Both lanes of north bound US 701 over the Cape Fear River is closed. Traffic is being rerouted to the southbound lanes. The closure has a wide load traffic restriction.
