wildfire-assistanceA group of firefighters from Bladenboro, Clarkton, Elizabethtown, and Roseboro left on Saturday morning to travel to Rutherford County in western North Carolina to support fire suppression efforts in the area, said Bladen County Fire Marshal Bradley Kinlaw.

 

They will be assisting with firefighting efforts at the Party Rock Fire near Lake Lure, said Kinlaw.

 

“This is a seven day deployment. Their main assignment will be structure protection,” said Kinlaw.

 

He added,”we are extremely proud of this group of firefighters for stepping up to the plate to assist our friends in the west. They will be joining firefighters from all over the state who are already there,” said Kinlaw.

 

The Party Rock began on Nov. 5 on Chimney Rock State Park land. As of Saturday morning 246 personnel were working the fire that had consumed about 1,914 acres.
