WHITEVILLE – Former East Bladen star Freddy Wooten walloped his 2nd grand-slam of the season Friday as his Southeastern Community College Rams split a doubleheader with Pitt Community College, winning the opener 10-9 then dropping the nightcap 5-3.

Wooten started and pitched 5 innings in the 2nd game allowing 4 runs on 6 hits and a walk while striking out 11.

In the opener, Wooten cleaned the bases by hammering his home run over the left field fence to slice a 5-0 Pitt lead to 5-4. In the 6th inning, the Elizabethtown native scorched a single to center field and later scored as the Ram lead grew to 10-6.

Wooten finished 3-for-5 at the plate with the homer, 2 runs scored and 4 runs batted in. The Rams, now 4-6 in Region X play and 10-14 overall, will host Pitt Community again Sunday at noon.
