TABOR CITY – Tyleah Freeman fired in 8 points to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to a 20-10 lead and eventual 20-15 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ basketball victory over Tabor City Thursday.

Montiera Richardson tossed in a pair of baskets in the 1st period, teammate Paris Jenkins sank 2 free throws, and Ellie Kinlaw and Freeman added baskets as the Blue Devils took an early 10-8 lead.

Freeman drained a 3-point shot, and Nevaeh Brown threw in a basket as the Clarkton lead grew to 17-10 at halftime. Freeman nailed a 3-point shot in the 3rd period to pad the lead to 20-10, before the Lady Eagles rallied to within 5 points in the final quarter.

Richardson followed Freeman on the Clarkton scoring list with 4 points. D. Johnson led Tabor City with 8 points.

It was the first conference game for Coach Hakeem Swindell’s Lady Blue Devils who improved to 2-1 overall. Clarkton will host Nakina Tuesday.
