CLINTON — Sophomores Janiya Mosley and Ciara Stuart sparked a 23-13 closing run that carried Clinton to a 47-39 Southeastern Athletic Conference girls’ basketball victory over West Bladen Friday night.

The Lady Knights took a 26-24 lead into the 4th quarter, but Mosley threw in a pair of baskets and sank 4 straight free throws, and Stuart drained a 3-point shot and another basket. Freshman Rubi Davila and senior Ava Williford tallied 4 points each during the decisive spurt.

Senior Mallory Bryan tossed in 6 straight free throws in the final period for West, and sophomore Natalee Sykes nailed a 3-point shot and another basket. Junior Holland Davis pumped in another basket for the Lady Knights in the quarter.

Bryan led the Lady Knights with 12 points. Sophomore Kali Allen followed with 9 points, and Sykes and senior Kiera Lewis added 5 points each.

Allen and Lewis bombed in 3-point baskets in the opening period to spark West to an early 10-6 lead. Davis cashed in a pair of free throws, and Bryan threw in a basket.

Bryan drove for an old-fashioned 3-point play, and Allen swished another 3-pointer to keep the Lady Knights up 16-14 at halftime.

Lady Knight junior Alina Chavez canned 2 free throws and powered in a basket in the 3rd quarter. Allen popped in a basket and a free throw, Lewis flipped in a basket, and Bryan converted a free throw to maintain the 26-24 lead.

Davila topped the Clinton scoring with 11 points. Williford followed with 10 points, and Mosley finished with 9.

West Bladen, now 0-6 and 4-11, will entertain Midway Tuesday night.
