CERRO GORDO — Ten different players scored Tuesday night as East Bladen’s Lady Eagles rolled to a 64-16 Waccamaw Conference girls’ basketball victory over West Columbus.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles moved back into 1st place in the Waccamaw with a 9-1 record and improved to 17-1 overall. East Bladen will host Heide Trask Friday night. Second-place East Columbus is tied in the loss column and is 8-1 with 3 games left.

Junior Laila Smith sparked the Lady Eagle attack with 15 points. Sophomore Ariel Cromartie rang up 13 points, and junior Iveonna “NeNe” Ward followed with 11 points. Freshman Aaliyah Monroe fired in 9 points, and freshman Nevaeh Brown tallied 5 points.

Laila Smith tossed in 2 baskets and a free throw to start the game. Freshman Tatum Allen sank 3 free throws, and Ward popped in a basket and a free throw as the Lady Eagles built an 11-6 lead.

Laila Smith blistered the nets with 5 baskets in the 2nd quarter. Ward drained a 3-point shot and another basket. Cromartie flipped in 2 baskets and a free throw. Freshman Taylor Dowless and sophomore Cabria Baldwin netted baskets, and Dowless tacked on a free throw as the East lead grew to 36-10 at halftime.

Cromartie connected on 6 of 7 foul shots in the 3rd period and added a basket. Ward and Monroe bombed in 3-point shots. Brown and senior Zoe Smith swished free throws as the margin swelled to 52-13.

Monroe lit up the scoreboard with a trio of baskets in the final quarter. Brown pumped in a pair of baskets, and freshman Tyliah Freeman threw in a basket.

Tierra Braddy led the Lady Vikings, now 0-12, with 11 points.
