RED SPRINGS – Junior Elora Oxendine and senior Amyah Farrington sparked a 14-2 closing run that rallied Red Springs to a 31-24 Southeastern Athletic Conference girls’ basketball victory over West Bladen Monday night.

West Bladen carried a 22-17 lead into the final quarter, but Oxendine buried a 3-point shot and 3 free throws during the decisive run. Farrington threw in 2 baskets and a free throw, and senior Jazlyn Jones netted 2 free throws in the period.

Oxendine and Monica Washington shared scoring honors for Red Springs with 9 points each. Hannah Pait topped the Lady Knight scoring with 8 points, junior Lainey Autry tossed in 6 points, and freshman Holland Davis finished with 5 points.

Autry nailed a 3-point shot and a free throw in the opening quarter, but Oxendine’s 3-ball helped the Lady Red Devils to an 8-5 lead. Hannah Pait sank a basket and 3 free throws, Autry popped in a basket, and junior Makayla Wright cashed in 2 free throws as the Lady Knights took a 15-13 halftime lead.

Davis pumped in a pair of baskets, and senior Anasia Baxley added a basket that grew the West Bladen lead to 22-17 at the 3rd quarter break.

The Lady Knights, now 7-5 overall and 0-3 overall, will host St. Pauls Wednesday night.
