BLADENBORO – Junior Jashonte Harris and senior Jakieya Thompson combined for 41 points Tuesday night to lead St. Pauls to a 68-46 Southeastern Athletic Conference girls’ basketball victory over West Bladen on the Lady Knights’ Senior Night.

Harris poured in a 3-pointer, a trio of 2-point baskets and 5 free throws to spark the Lady Bulldogs to a 24-6 1st period lead. Harris scored 15 of her 22 points in the quarter. Thompson threw in 4 baskets in the 1st quarter and 3 more in the 2nd period as she tallied 15 of her 19 points in the 1st half. St. Pauls led 43-12 at halftime.

Senior Lainey Autry pumped in a basket and 2 free throws in the 1st quarter for West, and junior Kiera Lewis sank 2 free throws. Senior Rylee Chadwick popped in 2 baskets in the 2nd period for the Lady Knights, and junior Brookee Singletary added a basket.

Sophomore Alina Chavez worked inside for a West basket in the 3rd period. Chadwick knocked down a corner jumper, before freshman Kali Allen blistered the nets with a trio of 3-point shots to keep the Lady Knights within 56-25 at the quarter break.

Senior Kirsten Warrick bounced in a corner 3-ball to begin the final period. Chadwick canned 2 free throws, and Warrick stole the ball and banked in a basket then tacked on a free throw for a 3-point play. Singletary made a free throw, and Chadwick narrowed the gap to 64-36 with a basket.

Autry stole the ball and raced for a lay-up, and Chadwick turned a steal into a lay-up and a 3-point play that shrunk the lead to 64-41. Chadwick scored another lay-up in transition, and Autry drilled in a 3-ball from the left wing to slice the final margin to 68-46.

Chadwick topped the West Bladen scoring with 15 points, and Autry finished with 9 points. Allen totaled 9 points on her trio of 3-balls, and Warrick followed with 6 points.

Tyashia Baldwin tallied 11 points for the Lady Bulldogs, and Aniya Easterling added 8. Thompson who returned to the line-up in the final 3 minutes when West Bladen sliced the lead to 23 points left the game due to an injury moments later.

Seniors Lainey Autry, Rylee Chadwick, Kirsten Warrick and Makayla Wright were honored by West Bladen in pre-game ceremonies.

West Bladen, now 1-10 in SAC-7 play and 8-12 overall, will close out their season at Midway Friday night. St. Pauls, now 10-1 in the SAC-7 and 16-4 overall, will host East Bladen Friday night.
