BLADENBORO – Senior Heidi Rebollar and junior Jackie Medina-Leal fired in 2 goals each to lead East Bladen to a 5-0 non-conference girls’ soccer victory over West Bladen Monday night.

Coach Jay Raynor’s Lady Eagles improved to 9-2-1 and will resume Waccamaw Conference play Tuesday night at Whiteville. West Bladen, now 2-7-3, will host North Brunswick Wednesday night.

East Bladen was awarded a penalty kick in the 12th minute due to a handball in the box, and Heidi Rebollar drilled in the PK. “The handball was created by a corner kick from Heidi’s sister, Gabby Rebollar,” noted Coach Raynor.

In the 20th minute of play, Medina-Leal knocked in a goal from the right side off an assist from junior Iveonna “NeNe” Ward. A minute later senior Molly Evans banged in a goal to pad the East Bladen lead to 3-0 at halftime.

Fifteen minutes into the 2nd half Heidi Rebollar rang up her 2nd goal of the game. In the 64th minute, Medina-Leal closed out the Lady Eagle scoring with her 2nd goal of the game.

“Our girls played well,” said Raynor. “Everyone played significant minutes for us tonight. That’s a huge plus. We can only get better if we are able to get girls on the field. Our starters did an excellent job of doing their job and giving us an opportunity to get everyone on the field. It was a well-played game for both sides.”

“Reese Hester was credited with 2 saves (in goal),” added Raynor. “She came up big on a West corner kick in the first half.”

Senior Briana Carranza Toledo had 12 saves in goal for the Lady Knights, and freshman Lydia Harris also had 1 save. Junior Jazmy Funez Aranda had a shot on goal for West.

Sophomore Faith Wren sparked the Lady Knight defense with 8 steals. Senior Brookee’ Singletary came up with 6 steals for West. Junior O’Mara McDonald collected 5 steals, and freshman Emma King had 4 steals.
