DUNN – Midway’s Lady Raiders scored a 2nd half goal to edge West Bladen 2-1 Tuesday night and sew up a 3rd place finish in the Southeastern Athletic Conference girls soccer standings.

Midway improved to 5-4 in SAC-7 play and 7-10-1 overall, while the Lady Knights are now 3-6 in the SAC-7 and 6-12 overall. The two teams will close out conference play Friday night at West Bladen.

Senior Lainey Autry fired in a Lady Knight goal in the 1st half off of an assist from senior Kaden Thurman. Midway scored a goal in each half to secure the win.

The Lady Knights peppered the Midway goalie with 10 shots. Senior Eva Ayala-Martinez led the attack with 4 shots, and Autry was credited with 3 shots. Sophomores Anna Campbell and O’Mara McDonald and Kaden Thurman sent 1 shot each toward the Lady Raider goal.

Kaden Thurman sparked the West defensive effort with 24 steals, and sophomore Jazmy Funez Aranda racked up 22 steals. Sophomore Ashley Sanchez-Resendiz finished with 13 steals. Ayala-Martinez followed with 11 steals.

Junior Shamaria Jackson, sophomore Haleigh Seabolt and freshman Makenna Thurman totaled 9 steals each for the Lady Knights. Autry collected 8 steals, and sophomore Yuridia Santana-Dominguez contributed 7 steals.

Junior Briana Carranza Toledo was credited with 7 saves in goal for West Bladen.
