TABOR CITY – West Bladen junior O’Mara McDonald fired in the tying goal in the 2nd half, and her Lady Knights battled South Columbus to a 1-1 tie in non-conference girls’ soccer action Monday night.

Coach Kristen Parker’s Lady Knights are now 1-2-1 and will open Southeastern Athletic Conference play on Tuesday, March 26 at Clinton. South Columbus, now 0-5-2, will host Pender Tuesday.

West Bladen senior Brookee Singletary had 3 shots on goal. Junior Anna Campbell, junior Jazmy Funez Aranda and McDonald also had shots for the Lady Knights.

South Columbus scored their goal in the 1st half. Senior Briana Carranza Toledo was credited with 11 saves in goal for West Bladen.

Junior Ashley Sanchez-Resendiz sparked the Lady Knight defense with 12 steals. Senior Shamaria Jackson was right behind her with 11 steals. Campbell, sophomore Faith Wren, and Singletary finished with 7 steals each. McDonald and Funez Aranda collected 6 steals each, and sophomore Makenna Thurman had 5 steals.
