WHITEVILLE – For the first time since West Bladen joined the Southeastern Athletic Conference, the Knights won a regular season golf match. The Knights carded a 324 total Tuesday at Land O’ Lakes Golf Club to edge 2nd place Midway by 3 strokes.
Clinton took 3rd place with a 338 total followed by Fairmont’s 401. Red Springs and St. Pauls did not have enough players competing to qualify for the team title.
Midway’s Kaison Marley copped medalist honors with a 73, followed by Clinton’s Finn Howard (78) and Midway’s Dakota Bedard (79). West Bladen’s Daniel Gustafson and Ben Davis finished in a 3-way tie for 4th place with Clinton’s Brock Sumner. All 3 golfers shot matching 80s.
West Bladen’s Nolan Sessoms posted an 81 to take 7th place. Teammate Seth Faircloth recorded an 83 and tied Clinton’s Hayden Boney for 8th place. West Bladen’s Chason Harris finished with a 98.
The next SAC golf match will be played Monday at Fairmont Golf Club.
