The rain was threatening, but memories and hope were all that washed over the crowd at the Bladen County ‘Cry Out America’ event held at the Bladen County Courthouse front lawn in Elizabethtown, today, Friday, September 11th.

Bagpiper Arch Decascrique was heard playing in the background as many gathered for a chance to honor the lives lost on September 11th, 2001, the many heroes Bladen County has lost, and for the chance to “Cry Out” with others in America. Rev. Rachel Mitchell opened with a fervent prayer and the mood was set.
The Bladen County Color Guard changed the flags out in front of the Fallen Heroes Memorial with children holding signs up to remind everyone to put hope in the Lord and in our country. Rev. Chris Denny, Rev. Cameron McGill, and Rev. Cliff Freeman all delivered heart felt messages that moved the crowd.
Denny opened by saying, “When we study the history of our great country we are reminded of times of great crisis, and yet God raised up leaders.” Denny mentioned leaders like Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Billy Graham.
He reminded us of what our forefathers once said, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, and that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
McGill said, “Today marks the 14th anniversary of the day everything changed.” He cried out, “Revive us Lord!”, and the crowd cheered.
After all the pastors’ messages, Freeman had everyone on their feet by saying,  “We’ve got to stop trying to do it our way, and let God do it His way.”
Pam Ward summed it all up with a passionate prayer saying, “God give us pure hearts, fill us with the knowledge of Your will. Lord let us dwell together in unity. I pray every heart does it’s share as each one has received a gift, let us use it. Let us love one another. May we always say, In God We Trust! Lord forgive us and revive us again.”
The event ended with Rev. Larry Hayes calling all the public servants up to the front for everyone to shake hands.
