Built just after WWII, the Bladen Central High School Gymnasium has quite a story to tell. Having experienced the post-war era, the struggles of segregation, the freedom of desegregation, and the honor of providing resources to children of almost every grade level, each section of the gym floor certainly has its own personality and unique perspective.

Paul R. Brown Leadership Academy recognizes the importance of preserving such a history. Historical artifacts not only help us to remember those who were involved and learn more about their personal histories, but they allow us the opportunity to honor those individuals as well.

On behalf of the 11th Corps of Cadets, we would like to honor those who gave their time and effort to build the Bladen Central High School Gymnasium in 1948. For more than 75 years, this gymnasium has stood the test of time.

Joining with us as they also recognize the power of preserving history, several community members and the Bladen County Commissioners themselves have generously donated toward the preservation and restoration of this county landmark.

As the gym floor is renovated, we, at PRBLA, want to give back to the community that has supported and encouraged not only our academy but this campus over the last 75 years. Consequently, we will be giving small sections of the floor to community members free of charge until we no longer have sections to give. It is our pleasure to give a piece of history to the community and all those who worked and played on this campus.

Please stop by Paul R. Brown Leadership Academy to receive a small section of the gymnasium floor Monday-Friday, 9:00am-2:00pm.
