BLADENBORO- Purnell Swett rallied for 4 runs in the 4th inning to overcome a 5-2 West Bladen lead enroute to an 8-5 victory that knotted their Junior American Legion Baseball playoff series at 1-1 and forced a 3rd and deciding game Sunday night at Purnell Swett at 7 p.m.

Jackson Jacobs’ double highlighted the Rams 4th inning rally along with singles by Wyatt and Xavier, walks to Mason Brewer and Grayson Brooks and an error.

The Rams added an unearned run in the 6th and Sam Brewington singled and scored in the 7th to provide the final margin.

Brewer walked, Brooks was hit by a pitch, and Jacobs’ cracked a 2-run single to stake Purnell to an early 2-0 lead in the opening inning.

Allister Russ led off the West Bladen 2nd inning with a single and raced home when Jackson Smith slammed a double to slice the margin to 2-1.

Ashton Davis walked, and Cade Allen belted a single to start the Knights’ 4-run 3rd inning. Jordan Hester delivered a single, and Allister Russ swatted a single. Davis, Allen, Hester and Allister Russ all scored as West went up 5-2.

Allister Russ batted 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored to lead the Knight hitters. Smith ripped the RBI double, and Brady Durden, Allen and Hester added 1 hit each. Allen, Hester and Davis scored runs and Hester had an RBI.

Jacobs batted 2-for-3 with a double and 4 RBIs to lead the Ram hitters. Brewer walked 3 times and scored 3 runs. Brooks scored twice.
