A 16-run, third-inning explosion carried East Bladen to a 19-3 Four County Conference junior varsity baseball victory at Union Thursday.

Freshman Xavier Wooten hammered a 2-run triple and batted a perfect 3-3 to lead the Eagle hitters. Teammate Daniel Elkins slammed a run-scoring double and finished 2-3 at the plate. Michael Walter also batted 2-3 for the winners.

Quinton Bedsole, Tanner Meares, Josh Turkovich, B. J. Robinson, Tanner Clark and Nicholas Collins added one hit each to the Eagles 13-hit attack.

Collins started on the mound for East Bladen and struck out 2 in his 2 innings of work. Devon Stocks came on to pitch the third inning and also struck out two.

Walter legged out an infield hit, Meares reached base on an error, and Wooten belted a single in the Eagles’ 3-run first inning. All 3 of them scored.

In the third inning, Bedsole, Meares, Wooten, Elkins, Turkovich, Clark and Collins all scored 2 runs each. Walter and Robinson scored one run each in the inning.

Wooten tripled and singled in the third. Elkins doubled and singled. Turkovich, Robinson, Clark, Meares, Walter and Bedsole connected for one hit each in the inning.

The Eagles are 1-0 in league play and 3-1 overall.
