ELIZABETHTOWN – South Columbus’ N. Thompson, Levi Stocks and A. Sumner cracked singles that produced the tying run in the 6th inning as the Stallions and East Bladen battled to a 5-5 tie in their Waccamaw Conference junior varsity baseball opener that was halted due to the time limit.

The Eagles, now 1-1-2, and the Stallions (0-2-1), are scheduled to meet again Friday at South Columbus.

East Bladen snapped a 4-4 tie with a 5th inning run. Torrean Cogdell ripped a double to left field, and Colton Daly yanked a single to right field. An error on the play scored Cogdell. Rogers, the courtesy runner for Daly, stole 2nd base and a Stallion error on the play scored Cogdell. Rogers advanced on Eason’s fly ball then darted home on a wild pitch for a 3-2 East lead.

Cromartie drew a 2-out walk in the Eagle 2nd inning, raced to 3rd base on an error by the pitcher then stole home on the back-end of a double steal with Sholar who had walked to pad the lead to 4-2.

Two walks, an error and L. Nance’s RBI-single resulted in 2 South runs in the 3rd inning that tied the game 4-4.
