TABOR CITY – Freshman Brady Durden struck out 11 batters and allowed only 2 hits in 4 innings as he led West Bladen to a 10-4 Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee baseball victory over South Columbus Thursday.

Durden walked 5 and gave up only 3 unearned runs. Freshman Chason Harris pitched the 5th inning and allowed an unearned run on 2 walks while striking out two.

Freshman Hezekiah Adams reached base to start the game, and Brady Durden and freshman Cade Allen drew walks. Sophomore Will Durden reached base on an error, and Adams, Brady Durden and Allen all scored to put West up 3-0.

Catcher Luke Howell reached base on an error to begin the 2nd inning, and courtesy runner Allister Russ raced home when Adams drilled a double to centerfield. Brady Durden smacked a single to right-centerfield that scored Adams.

Allen reached base on an error, and Will Durden knocked in Harris, the courtesy runner for Brady Durden, and Allen with a single. Sophomore Jordan Hester hammered a double to centerfield that scored Brady Durden and stretched the Knight lead to 8-0.

Adams walloped a double to rightfield in the West 3rd inning then darted home as Brady Durden reached base on an error. Allen yanked a single to left, and Will Durden belted a single to right that scored Allen for a 10-0 Knight lead.

A walk, an error, Noah Greene’s 2-run single and a balk produced a trio of Stallion runs in the 3rd inning. Two walks and a passed ball scored the final South run in the 5th inning.

Adams slammed 2 doubles, scored 3 runs and drove in a run to lead the West hitters. Will Durden batted 2-for-3 with 3 runs batted in, a double and a run scored. Hester doubled home a run, and Brady Durden, freshman Matt Kemp and Allen added 1 hit each. Allen scored twice, Brady Durden scored 3 runs and had an RBI. Allister Russ scored a run.

Greene, the Stallion pitcher, batted 2-for-2 with 2 RBI’s and a run scored.

The Knight jayvees remained undefeated at 3-0 and will travel to East Bladen Tuesday at 4 p.m. for their Southeastern Athletic Conference opener.
