ST PAULS – A six-run fourth inning rallied West Bladen to a 9-6 Three Rivers Conference jayvee baseball victory over St. Pauls Thursday.

With St. Pauls ahead 5-3, freshman Brycen Blackmon and sophmore Andrew Pait drew walks to begin the Knight fourth inning. Freshman Devon Strange and sophmores Samuel West and Kendall Johnson drew consecutive walks to force home Blackmon and Pait.

Freshman Bryley Williams raked a single to leftfield that scored Devon Strange and West. Johnson dashed home on a passed ball, and Josh Russ’ fielder’s choice scored Williams to give the Knights a 9-5 lead.

The Bulldogs trimmed the final margin to 9-6 with a fourth inning run.

The Knights had grabbed an early lead with three second inning runs. Williams drew a lead-off walk, and Russ reached base on an error. Williams raced home on a passed ball. Pait was hit by a pitch, and Alex Strange ripped a single to left that scored Russ and Pait.

St. Pauls scored 2 runs in the second inning and 3 more in the third to take the 5-3 lead.

Alex Strange and Williams both belted 2-run singles to lead the Knight hitters. West, Johnson and Russ drove in runs. Williams and Pait scored 2 runs each. Devon Strange, West, Johnson, Russ, and Blackmon scored one run each.

Freshman Kaiden Stanley pitched the first two innings and allowed 5 runs – 4 earned – on 6 walks and 2 hits while striking out four. Russ pitched a scoreless third inning, walked two and struck out one to pick up the win. Devon Strange allowed a run on 2 hits in his one inning of work while striking out one.
