ST PAULS – West Bladen pounded out 16 hits en route to a 16-3 Three Rivers Conference softball victory over St. Pauls Thursday night.

The Lady Knights took charge early with 5 runs in the second inning. Pitcher Shelby Pharr hammered a triple down the rightfield line and scored as freshman Lauren Pait reached base on an error.

Junior Kasee Singletary’s infield hit scored Lauren Pait. Senior Conner Brisson walked, and junior Kyla Reed walloped a triple to leftfield that scored Singletary and Brisson. Freshman Hannah Pait raked a single to left that scored Reed.

St. Pauls scored a run in the home second, but the Lady Knights answered with two runs in the fourth inning. Hannah Pait ripped a one-out single to left, and junior Alara Cashwell walked. Sophmore Alyssa Suggs knocked in Hannah Pait and Cashwell with a single to pad the lead to 7-1.

Brisson walked to start the West Bladen sixth. Reed followed with a single, and Hannah Pait delivered a single to left that scored Brisson. Cashwell mashed a single to right that scored Reed and Hannah Pait.

Suggs and Lauren Pait drew walks. Taylor Lewis’ bunt single plated Cashwell, and Briley Stanley, the courtesy runner for Suggs, darted home on a wild pitch as the lead grew to 12-1.

St. Pauls closed the gap to 12-3 in the home sixth, but West Bladen tacked on 4 runs in the seventh. Hannah Pait smacked a single to centerfield, and Cashwell and Pharr drew walks. Hannah Pait dashed home on a wild pitch.

Lauren Pait reached base on catcher’s interference. Cashwell and Pharr both scored on Lewis’ bunt single. Singletary beat out a bunt single, and Brisson drove in Lauren Pait with a single.

Hannah Pait batted a perfect 3-3 with 2 runs batted in and 2 runs scored. Singletary finished 3-5 at the plate with an rbi and a run scored. Lewis batted 2-3 with 2 rbi’s, and Suggs finished 2-4 at the plate with 2 rbi’s.

Reed batted 2-5 with a triple, 2 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. Pharr finished 2-4 at the plate with a triple and 2 runs scored. Brisson and Cashwell added one hit each. Cashwell had 2 rbi’s, and Brisson and Lauren Pait had an rbi each. Cashwell scored 3 runs, and Brisson and Lauren Pait scored 2 runs each. Stanley also scored a run.

Pharr pitched a 6-hitter to pick up the win striking out two and walking three.

Kourtney Sanchious batted 2-2 with a triple, an rbi and 2 runs scored to lead the St. Pauls hitter. Pitcher Jazlyn Washington finished 2-3 at the plate with an rbi, and Braxtin Kinlaw doubled and scored a run.

Coach Pam Stephens’ Lady Knights improved to 9-6 in league play and 11-6 overall. West Bladen will be idle during the Easter Break and will return to action on April 30 when they host South Columbus.
