ELIZABETHTOWN — Ronnie Covington and Torrean Cogdell combined for 15 points Tuesday to lead East Bladen to a 25-18 Waccamaw Conference jayvee boys’ basketball victory over East Columbus.
Covington, Cogdell, Landyn Scott and Dashawn Campbell tossed in a basket each in the 1st half, but the Eagles trailed 12-8 at halftime.
Covington powered in a pair of baskets, and Braylon Cromartie sank 2 free throws and a basket to spark a 13-2 3rd quarter run that opened up a 21-14 Eagle lead. Cogdell bombed in a 3-point shot in the period.
Covington and Cogdell dropped in a basket each in the final period to keep East Bladen on top. Covington finished with 8 points, and Cogdell was right behind him with 7 points. Cromartie and Campbell chipped in with 4 points each.
T. Keaton led the Gators with 7 points, and Adrion Jenrette netted 5 points.
